I paint people
who don't exist, characters from films that provoke
some emotion in the viewer. Films provide the viewer
with an illusion of reality, an artificial reality where
colour and light conspire to create a perfect thin surface.
Working from photographs taken directly from my television
screen I isolate a single frame and translate this surface
perfection into paint.
