My recent work
is a creative response to images stored over years of
travel and a love of the effect of time on the surfaces
of buildings and geology. The starting point for my
work is often a drawing or photograph, at times even
a rubbing of a surface or an actual sample of rock collected
from a beach or a derelict building. In my studio memories
distilled over time take over. I work with mixed media,
continually experimenting with paint and various materials,
building complex layers until the painting begins to
emerge unplanned and spontaneous.
